Question:
Where can I find Marpac sound
machines? Is there a dealer in my area?
Answer:
Marpac sound conditioning products are available through a variety
of retail shops and consumer products catalogs. Because we serve
a somewhat niche market, our products are not widely distributed.
To locate a dealer near you, please call our toll-free number (1-800-999-6962)
or send us an e-mail (info@marpac.com)
and we will be happy to direct you to a retailer in your area. Alternatively,
you can order direct from Marpac by calling the same toll-free number,
or you can order on-line at www.marpac.com.
Question:
What is the difference between Sleep Mate and Sound Screen?
Answer:
Other than the name, there is no difference between Sleep Mate and
Sound Screen. Both names are registered trademarks of Marpac Corporation
and represent different market segments.
Sleep Mate is generally promoted for home use as a sleep aid to
help one fall asleep by masking noise or adding sound where it might
otherwise be too quiet. It can also be used at home to help promote
concentration on work or studies.
Though not exclusive to any particular market, Sound Screen is
often promoted for use in offices and/or professional environments
where conversation or office equipment noise can be a problem. Increasing
confidentiality by masking conversation between a counseling room
and waiting area is an example of the many uses of Sound Screen
in this environment.
Question:
Can Sleep Mate amd Sound
Screen be used overseas?
Answer:
Both models can be used overseas if used in conjunction with
a suitable voltage converter and plug adapter.
On special order, we can a build a model #980 equipped specifically
for use in countries with 240 volt current. Please call 1-800-999-6962
for more details and pricing.
Question:
Which one of the sound conditioners
is the loudest?
Answer:
Sleep Mate and Sound Screen both create sufficient levels of
soft, comfortable sound suitable for most applications. However,
electronic models have greater volume output and tonal flexibility.

Question:
Will I need a sandbag or
some other form of weight to hold Poolkeeper in place?
Answer:
Poolkeeper does not require weights or additional "ballast"
to hold it in place. When properly installed, the float housing
(the box that goes in the water) fills with water creating a balancing
effect. Additionally, the low profile pool deck housing is connected
to a hose that also helps stabilize the on-deck portion of Poolkeeper.
For above ground pools, Poolkeeper is equipped with an accessory
kit consisting of two small brackets and a nylon strap. Instructions
are provided for installing the brackets on the pool ledge of above
ground pools and for installing Poolkeeper using the brackets and
strap combination.
Question:
At what level does Poolkeeper keep the water in my pool?
Answer:
Poolkeeper is shipped from the factory with a two inch fitting (schedule
80 pipe nipple) installed. On most pools, this will keep the water
level between 5-1/2 and 6 inches below the pool deck. For most pools
with a conventional skimmer, this is an acceptable level. However,
Poolkeeper comes with a one inch fitting for a high water level
and a three inch fitting for a lower water level. To maintain water
levels lower than seven inches, you can purchase longer fittings
from your local hardware or home improvement store.
When properly installed, the pool water level will be positioned
at approximately one half or the middle of the Poolkeeper float
housing.
Question:
My Poolkeeper makes a noise while adding water to the pool. Is this
normal?
Answer:
Poolkeeper is equipped with a patented ball valve/anti-siphon device
that works in conjunction with the float assembly to add water to
your pool. Water flow through this valve will cause the unit to
make a sound. This is normal and lets you know Poolkeeper is doing
its job.
Question:
Can I use Poolkeeper to fill my pool?
Answer:
Poolkeeper was designed to maintain pool water at a pre-determined
level. Because water passes through a ball valve/anti-siphon device
within Poolkeeper, water flow is restricted and the volume is consdierably
reduced as compared to an open hose. We advise against using Poolkeeper
to fill your pool and recommend using a more conventional source
to fill the pool within a couple inches of the desired level and
then use Poolkeeper to finish the job.
Question:
Will Poolkeeper operate properly with high water pressure?
Answer:
Poolkeeper works best when the water pressure is between 35 and
70 PSI. In situations where the water pressure is greater then 70
PSI, you should use a water pressure regulator to reduce the pressure
to somewhere in this range. You can purchase a water pressure regulator
from most local RV centers or you can order one from Marpac by calling
1-800-999-6962.
Question:
Can Poolkeeper be permanently installed in the pool plumbing?
Answer:
Through creativity and ingenuity there is no doubt many of our customers
will invent a way to adapt Poolkeeper to a more permanent installation.
We strongly discourage modifying Poolkeeper in any manner from its
original form. Not only will this void the warranty, but it could
also result in irreparable damage to the product.
